What's in a Name?

It seemed like a good idea at the time. . . We were a singing group, right? And way back in 1994, the most obvious word to describe that was “choral”. And it was a time for making all kinds of “connections,” so why not put the two words together? “The Choral Connection.”

But, during the years since then, we’ve morphed into a song-and-dance troupe that the word “choral” doesn’t begin to describe. We don’t stand on risers. We don’t hold our music. And we certainly don’t keep still.

So why don’t we just change our name? The good news and the bad news is that after 16+ years and scores of performances, our audiences know us as The Choral Connection and redubbing ourselves would mean that we’d lose name recognition. And, to tell the truth, we just haven’t found a name that suits us to a “T”, although we’ve considered more than a hundred, including, “Kitsch n’ Sync.” (Say that out loud!)

So here we are... with a name that doesn’t exactly fit, but one we’ve learned to live with. We love to make beautiful music, move to the beat, put on imaginative shows, and keep the Great American Songbook alive. We give our audiences everything we’ve got and we get so much back. And you know what? That’s the best connection of all.
